EVENT | The Mission XL

The Mission XL
After 10 amazing years The Mission XL came to an end. 2013 was the last edition of this great event. Over the years the Mission grew to one of the biggest event for both windsurf and SUP in the BENELUX. The audience, competitors were treated with great demos form the very best Pro’s windsurfers in the world. They flew in from all over the world. Names such as; Taty & Tonky Frans, Davy Scheffers, Steven van Broeckhoven, Youp Schmit. A unforgettable event which will be missed by everyone. Big thanks to Herman van den Berg, the Mission volunteers, Pro riders, audience and competitors for these wonderful years!!

Dear friend, I’m very, very sad to hear this horrible news. Thank you for those great moments and inspiring me and many others. I deeply admire your courage, passion, strength, determination and showing the world never to give up and to look on the bright side of life. Travel story Greece:
I got invited by Freaksurfstation to come over to Crete (the biggest island in Greece ) and explore the windsurfscene and the area so we could create a travel story for you. We’ve been trying to put together a story which provides you all the information needed from the area, particular East of crete.This Travel story will be out soon and it’s meant for windsurfers with all sorts of levels. It will be translated and published in several magazines in several languishes.

PROJECT | Bonifacio

WINNER FREESTYLE EVENT: Steven van Broeckhoven (Team International)
WINNER BEST MOVE: Antony Ruenes (Team France)
WINNER VIDEO CONTEST: Team France

The first battle was the OVERALL EVENT BATTLE at the event in Bonifacio including battles in freestyle windsurfing and tow-in. After two individual eliminations formats in the light to moderate winds on 2 different spots, two eliminations in Tow-In windsurfing and one round of “light wind freestyle”, the Belgian Steven Van Broeckhoven became the overall big winner of the 4th edition of the Bonifacio Freestyle Project. Steven was the most consistent sailor during the entire event. The second battle was the BEST MOVE battle, where everybody was voting for their favourite move. In the end Antony Runes won the BEST MOVE battle with his amazing no handed Burner. The third battle was the ONLINE VIDEO CONTEST between Team France and Team International. More than 1500 people have voted for their favourite video. In the end it was Team France who got 65% of all the votes and therefore won the contest.

Project Bonifacio
The 2013 Bonifacio Freestyle Project invited the best French freestyle sailors and some of the best freestyle riders from the rest of the world to battle against in each other in three different disciplines on the island of Corsica. After those three battles TEAM FRANCE is the overall winner of the Bonifacio Freestyle Project 2013. Twins Club
Last weekend JP Australia SUP and NP Surf were representative at Twinsclub Bredene-/ Belgium.The weekend was given a various of weather types which made it challenging for the competitors to compete in both Wave and Race disciplines. Eventually on Sunday the weather conditions were allowing the organization to run a couple of races. So a intensive battle was fought out on the water to earn the title. As for the Wave discipline, the conditions never turned out to be suitable to compete, though the JP Australia SUP team were giving it at shot to get the best or perhaps the most fun out of the given conditions.After all it was a great event giving the opportunity to enthuse people to get into the sport of SUP. Giving them the chance to try out a various number of newest NP Paddles and JP Australia SUP Boards such as the: JP Wide Body Surf, probably the best board for a waves up to 2m. and for the ambitious rider who likes to improve his skills fast. South Africa 2013
This winter windsurfing in Holland has been really good. Actually the weather conditions where quite the same as we usually have in autumn. Lot’s of wind for days in a row and air temperatures up to 14 degrees C. I booked my ticket on the 23rd January to Cape Town. Just a few days before leaving the weather conditions in Holland changed rapidly into a serious winter. Which resulted in lot’s of snow and cold air temperatures, so great timing. For this year I choose bringing a SUP to (JP Wide body 8’2), in order to spend more days on the water when not having any wind. This was a great choice because we’ve had some days without wind and just great waves. During a couple of SUP sessions we’ve had nice encounters with marine animals such as dolphins and lot’s of seals. In comparison to last year this year was much more windy, actually when the wind was kicking in I was mostly of the time stacked on a 4,5 or 4,2 and only just a few times on 4.8. So quite different. There was also lot’s of more swell, even at Langebaan, Langebaan is knowed for being a flat water spot, but because there was lot’s of swell on the ocean with the right wave direction. We scored awesome bump and jump conditions at Langebaan, having some airtime at Langebaan was really unexpected. After all Cape-Town has been treating us very well, providing us with lot’s of windy and wavy days. When we didn’t have wind Steven van Broeckhoven and me where visiting the gym on the regular base. When having waves we scored a couple of really awesome SUP sessions. Big Thanks to Steven en Sveta for staying with you and as well Sveta for the every day 5Star+ cooking we’ve been really spoiled.
